“I am no bird and no net ensnares me. I am a free human being with an independent will.” - Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

This is one of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite books. It speaks to me because it is so universal in its message. In all of our lives, we are sometimes “ensnared” by adversity, life’s challenges, and plain old bad luck. We can easily lose sight of the fact that we do indeed have an independent will and are able to exert control over our lives, or at the very least how we navigate these challenges. As a therapist, my role and my goal is to support your journey and help you make the healthy, positive changes needed for you to free yourself from whichever net ensnares you.

I received my Master’s degree in Counseling from Doane University and have been working as a mental health therapist since 2013. My passion and purpose is in working with those who are struggling with life’s transitions, medical trauma or complex medical conditions, depression or anxiety. Primarily, I use an integrative approach, meaning I tailor my method to suit each individual client and situation. If you are ready to enact change for the better in your life, I can assist you on that path. Previous clients have said they especially appreciate my approachability, humor, and ability to quickly develop a productive working relationship.

On a personal note, I am bilingual (German/English) thanks to my German husband and time abroad. I love cooking, visiting farmer’s markets, traveling and am an avid bookworm!

I offer a brief phone consultation at no charge and am happy to answer any questions via email.
