Michelle A. Wooten, MA, PLMHP

Michelle’s professional and personal life experiences have fostered a deep commitment to helping others in times of need.  Her philosophy is to treat each fellow human being with kindness, compassion, respect, and dignity while establishing a collaborative relationship to enhance one’s hope, personal growth, and positive changes. She believes each person has the ability to heal through learning coping skills, gaining insight into self-compassion, embracing individual strengths, and discovering one’s meaning and purpose in life.

As a therapist, Michelle’s commitment is to provide a safe and supportive environment, while maintaining high professional and ethical standards.  Her clinical experiences include individuals and families struggling through co-occurring mental health issues ranging from traumatic brain injury, stroke, phantom limb pain/amputations, post-traumatic stress disorder, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, substance use, sexual abuse, domestic violence, LGBTQIA issues, suicidal thoughts/ideations, and eating disorders. Therapeutic approaches she uses are evidence based and will be based on the individual’s needs.

In 2016, after 26+ years and moving every two, Michelle’s husband retired from the military and they decided to grow roots here in Nebraska along with their adult son, and their two Shih Tzu-Poodle mixes, Owen and Scout. Having the opportunity to live in multiple states and abroad has provided her with a life filled with rich cultural experiences and diversity.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, running, cycling, arts and crafts, volunteering, meeting new people, and helping others.
