Effective counseling is a mutual process that requires active participation by both counselor and client. I do not see my primary role as “advice giver” but rather as “guide” to assist clients in finding answers to the challenges or problems identified on their journey. Active participation in counseling should improve the client’s overall quality of life. One of my goals is to help clients discover and focus on their strengths and find ways to use them to cope more effectively with struggles they face. Focusing on strengths not only helps people deal more effectively with problems, it also helps them experience more successes and moments of joy.

I received my Bachelors in Psychology from the Univeristy of Nebraska-Lincoln and my Masters of Counseling from Doane College-Lincoln. I have worked for 10 years in the domestic violence field and have experience assisting in healing both recent and childhood trauma as well as sexual assault. I have 6 years of education and experience working with our Deaf Community and have additional experience working with our LGBTQI community.
